"Ethnic group which forgets history has no future" -- words repeatedly used in S. Korea when grilling war responsibility of Japan.
However, "history" is unlikely to be recognized based on correct historic materials in S. Korea.
Please watch an image of a video clip of a trailer of an educational TV program, "deep rooted future," KBS (S. Korean public broadcaster) broadcasted in January 2015.
The program introduced history of Takeshima island after WW2, and it showed a scene Japanese forces raising the Rising Sung Flag is approaching Takeshima with a subtitle of "Japan trying to deprive Dokdo" (left side of the following photo).
However, it is a composite photo in which Japanese troops holding the Rising Sun Flag and Takeshima were combined with a photo of "Normandy Invasion" in June 1944 (right side of it).
KBS which broadcasted it is a public broadcasting station -- one of three major terrestrial television networks in S. Korea.
Choi Seok-yeong, journalist who knows well about media in S. Korea, explained as follows;
"(KBS) is an oldest TV station in S. Korea, which has a branch-office network across the country. It is evaluated that its news is reliable. In the trailer of its TV program of [introducing history of Dokdo (Takesima in Korean)], such KBS used the photo repeatedly with a subtitle of [Japan which intended to deprive Dokdo].
The moment I watched the image, I felt that "it is a photo once I watched." Then I investigated, and it became clear that it was a composite photo. When I inquired of KBS for fact-confirmation, it thoroughly stick to an answer of evading that "as an outsider production produced the program, that please inquires of it, and didn't admit its fault after all."
According to Choi, a "history" portrayed by the composite photo has penetrated into the nationals in S. Korea -- "after WW2, former Japanese forces attempted to invade, while raising the Rising Sun Flag and using boats. However, they were repulsed by Dokdo-volunteers in S. Korea."
Of course, actual history is totally different. In the San Francisco Peace Treaty concluded in Sept. 1951, it was confirmed that Takeshima was a Japanese territory.
However, in January 1952, then S. Korean President Rhed Syngman one-sidedly drew military border line (Rhee Syngman line), then declared possession of Takeshima. Since then, unlawful occupation by S. Korea has been continued.
